Acute Leukemia

Yup.

It's teh fucking SUCK.

And about the same time I am finding all of this out, The Mister points out that I have a huge hole in the butt of my favorite pj pants. Figures.

Tomorrow I am moving to a new hospital, MCV/VCU Massey Cancer Center. I'll keep everyone updated as soon as possible.

Oh and Chris D. from Pajiba, thanks for the flowers buddy. It was one of the brightest spots of my day.

That absolutely sucks. I have no clue what to say. That said, you are strong, and you can take this bastard of a disease DOWN. Sending a huge virtual hug and prayers, and remember I'm only a phone call away if there's anything I can do to help.

Hang in, Manda. I'm pretty sure the force is with you.

They better fix you or I'm going to hunt down all your doctors and kick them in the nuts.

Aw, man. Manda, we're all wishing you the absolute very best. For real. I'm squeezing my eyes shut real tight and sending you happy vibes. My best to you and your family.

Oh 'Bama...I'm so sorry to hear that. You're in my thoughts, woman.

Hopefully the collective healing vibes from Pajibaland will kick leukemia's ass.

That is the suck. I am sending you the very best wishes, vibes, thoughts, and anything else I can think of.

You can and will beat this. I know it.

I send warm thoughts to you family and you.

I'm keeping fingers crossed and thumbs held for you 'Bama. Hang tight. -Stella

Hold tight, 'Bama. You've got a lot of love and prayers coming at you from the depths of Pajiba, and just remember - you can slay a zombie horde. This disease doesn't stand a chance against you.

gunter said...

Just remember: the Pajibans are making daily sacrifices to the Godtopus to help speed your recovery!

God that sucks. I lost my dad to that bastard disease 20 years ago, but fortunately for you, the techniques for dealing with it have improved a 1000x in that time frame.
Stay strong, you got friends.

Tania said...

Aw shit, Manda - that's a bastard. I'm so sorry!
Hang on in there... you know we are all thinking of you. And.... well, what everyone else said goes for me too..

I'm an anonymous Pajiba reader and currently battling boob cancer. Keep your chin up - treatment sucks, but you can get through it. And all that stuff about needing a good attitude to survive? It's bullshit. Cry and get angry all you want - just don't give up hope.

ShinyKate said...

Well, crap.

My heart goes out to you. I'll be praying, meditating, chanting, and goat-sacrificing for you.

You are amazing. You know that, right?

Nelly said...

Yeah it sucks and I second what everyone else said because I'm so bad at saying anything appropriate in these situations. I'll add my electronic mental powers to the rest of the pajibans and hope like hell it helps.

prisco said...

Hell's bells, woman. It's not bad enough we were almost classmates together, but now you want to go and appropriate my haircut? Not cool, Manda. Not cool.

By the power of Greyskull, I wish you all the warm feelings I can.

Omigawd...that's horrible...a hole in your pj's?

No, seriously, I'm so sorry about what's happened, and I want to join in with everyone when I say I'm hoping and praying for your quick return (I know it'll be a safe return, cuz you won't let a bastard of a disease get you down).

I posted a message on Pajiba, but I wanted to say here as well that my prayers are still with you and your family. You know that you've got a small army of internet-friends who are willing to do anything possible to help, so I hope that makes you feel a little better. Good luck and godspeed.

I must say it does bite the big one. i wish you all of my luck and am sending you sunshiney vibes.
On another note, not that yo can answer right now, but are you also going to be getting hyperbaric treatments? My hubby is always telling me how much they help cancer patients(he is a hyperbaric tech so he takes great pride in it)if can you can you should request it from your doctor. After the chemo it helps with the recovery time.

You don't know me, but I read your comments on Pajiba frequently and I think the world of you. I am praying for your immediate recovery and I hope the hospital is treating you and your family well. Acute leukemia ain't got nothin' on you, girl...kick its motherfucking ass.

Oh no! This can't happen to the only person on Pajiba that I know is also from Richmond. Sending you heaps of Richmond and Pajiba love. I'm sure the people at VCU/MCV will take good care of you...if not I'll take the campus connector down there and make them. My tuition pays their salary.

Hey bama, I'm a frequent pajiba commenter (if it rings any bells, you once thought I called you old and you directed me to Tori Amos' early work), just as an introduction. In addition to the time I've spent on Pajiba, I've also grown up in and around labs, drug companies and, specifically, cancer research.

So..., if you have ALL, there are certain drugs that are incredibly effective against it. ALWAYS advocate for information and, as I'm sure you already would, research your options. You can affect your treatment and your outcome, and I am confident that that outcome can be positive.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I'm chummy with a good number of experts, so if you want any info, please ask for my e-mail and I'd be happy to pass stuff along.

Like I said, educate yourself, advocate for your own best interest, and I know you can do this.

I've seen your comments on Pajiba and if I were Acute Leukemia I'd be very, very scared right now... Fight hard 'Bama, fight it with everything you've got. If I believed in God I would be praying for you... oh what the hell if you're up there yahweh or whatchamacallit you better help out or you'se and me's gonna have a little dust up when the time comes.

Seriously though I wish you all the very best and the speediest of recoveries

I have lurked on Pajiba for well over a year, enjoying eeryone's witty comments. But your story has made me come forward to tell you that my thoughts are with you. I can't imagine what it is like to recieve such news, but I hope you will be strong. Ironically enough, pink is the metaphysical color of healing. So I will be sending pink, healing thoughts your way. Take care. You are not alone.
