Call in the Dogs and Put out the Fire

It snowed today!

(Now before my Northernly and Midwestern brothers and sisters start carping about how "That AIN'T snow," this is Central Virginia. We get the white stuff from the sky about as often as a deserving film wins Best Picture, so stuff it.)

Little A was naturally enthralled with snow. He told me that snow was pretty, but when I asked him if it was prettier than our cat Vivienne, he responded firmly, "No."

Last night was a bit of a challenge in Casa Amos. For as yet unexplained reasons, Little A woke at 2:30 a.m. crying hysterically. We were able to put him back to bed around 3 a.m., but I never really fell back asleep. Alastair woke again around 6 a.m. and reluctantly joined us in bed for a half an hour. Having less than my usual amount of sleep (which is not more than five or six hours max) on top of this cold I'm battling did not make for a good morning.

So I opted for Lazy Mommy Mode and turned on the idiot box. We watched an unprecedented two hours of television (Sesame Street and Curious George) followed a showing of Cars in its entirety.

Our exercise for the day turned out to be inspired by that great Pixar flick. Little A and Momma A reenacted the Dinoco 400 around the coffee table in the living room, complete with pit stops (mostly mine) and bump drafting. This was followed by our interpretation of the "Bull Chases Lightening McQueen and Mater" scene; Alastair was McQueen and I played the Frank the Combine Bull with assistance from the popper toy. Talk about a workout for the glutes.

Oh and the snow? All melted away as fast as it fell, but darn pretty while it lasted.
